NBA CALLS ON IT'S MEMBERS FOR INPUT TO THE AMENDMENT OF THE CYBER CRIMES [PROHIBITION, PREVENTION,]ACT 2015

In a recent move for national development, it is believed that The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) is in the process of proposing amendments to Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act 2015 (“the Act”).

The proposed amendments are crucial to addressing emerging issues in cybersecurity and other issues not accommodated in the existing Act, and to further bring the Act in line with the National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy (NCPS) 2021, the implementation of which has since commenced. The ONSA has invited the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to make input to the proposed amendments.

Consequent to this development the NBA has called on its members for contributions/input in the form of memoranda, proposals, position papers from individual members, sections, and fora of the NBA, on possible amendments to the Act.

All memoranda, position papers, and/or proposals should be forwarded to ayodeji.oni@nigerianbar.org.ng on or before Wednesday, 5th October 2022 by 11:59PM WAT for aggregation and onward transmission of the NBA’s position to the ONSA.

FOR INQUIRIES MEMBERS ARE ENJOINED TO REACH AYODEJI on 08033452825 or OLUDAYO on 08061397690.

THIS STATEMENT WAS SIGNED OFF ON BY THE NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY IN CORRESPONDENCES RECEIVED TODAY.
