NO CRISIS IN NBA NYANYA-KARU: IBOLO-LED EXECUTIVE REMAINS INTACT DESPITE FALSE REPORTS

Branch meeting adjourned amid disruption; No vote of no confidence or caretaker committee constituted

ABUJA – April 24, 2025
Contrary to a sensational report published by some News Blogs alleging a “leadership crisis” within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nyanya-Karu Branch, credible information from within the Branch confirms that no such crisis exists, and no caretaker committee has been constituted.

The Branch’s regular monthly meeting, held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court premises in Nyanya, was adjourned—not dissolved—by the Chairman, Augustine Ibolo, Esq., after it became clear that the environment had grown too unruly to proceed productively.

There was no vote of no confidence passed against the Executive Committee during the meeting, and no resolution was made to dissolve the existing leadership. The Ibolo-led Executive Committee remains the legitimate and constitutionally recognized leadership of the NBA Nyanya-Karu Branch.

Sources at the meeting confirmed that no formal motion was raised, debated, or voted upon to change the status of the Executive.

The adjournment was carried out in line with the NBA Constitution, with the intention of safeguarding the integrity of Branch processes and ensuring order during deliberations, the meeting was adjourned as it was dark flowing from the heavy rains and lack of electricity in the high court premises.

In a statement from the Branch leadership, the NBA Nyanya-Karu Branch described the viral reports—alleging financial mismanagement, a vote of no confidence, and the appointment of a caretaker chairman—as entirely false, unfounded, and fabricated to mislead members of the Bar and the public.

“The meeting was disrupted, but at no point was a decision taken to remove the Executive. The situation was managed in a mature and constitutional manner by the Chairman, who adjourned the meeting to allow for calm,” a senior member of the Branch said.

Members have been advised to disregard unofficial reports circulating online and await official communication from the Branch regarding the rescheduled date of the meeting.

As preparations continue for the Branch elections slated for June 2025, the NBA Nyanya-Karu Branch reiterates its commitment to due process, professionalism, and unity.

The Ibolo-led Executive remains focused on delivering a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process in the best interest of the Branch and the legal profession at large.
