CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO THE FAMILY OF HONOURABLE JUSTICE MUHAMMAD LAWAL UWAIS, GCON
It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Honourable Justice Muhammad Lawal Uwais, GCON, former Chief Justice of Nigeria—an icon of judicial integrity, discipline, and intellect.

Justice Uwais was not only a towering figure in our legal history, but also a man of rare wisdom and humility. His decades of service to the Nigerian judiciary left an indelible mark on our jurisprudence and our democratic development. His leadership, especially during his tenure as Chief Justice of Nigeria, laid the foundation for many of the reforms we continue to build upon today.

On behalf of myself, my family, and the broader legal community, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May the Almighty grant you strength and comfort during this difficult time, and may the soul of our departed elder statesman find eternal rest.

Nigeria has lost a judicial colossus. We honour his memory and legacy.
