CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE TRAGIC DEATH OF BRIGHT NDA OWHOR
From Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN
I received with deep pain and sorrow the heartbreaking news of the tragic and untimely death of our colleague, Bright Nda Owhor, a young, vibrant, and promising member of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch.

Bright’s life was not lost to illness or accident it was violently taken in cold blood. A young man who stood at the dawn of a flourishing legal career has been cut down unjustly. His death is not only a devastating blow to his family and friends, but a painful loss to our noble profession and the nation at large.

To his dear family and loved ones, I extend my heartfelt condolences. No words can fully capture the weight of this loss, but I pray that God grants you strength and comfort in this season of deep grief. May Bright’s memory forever remain a light, and may you find peace in the legacy of kindness, commitment, and promise he left behind.

To the NBA Port Harcourt Branch, I stand with you in mourning. I urge you to draw strength from our collective voice as a Bar and our shared commitment to justice. We must continue to honour Bright not just in words, but in action by demanding accountability and justice in the face of this heinous crime.

I am also deeply troubled by emerging reports that he may have been denied urgent medical treatment. If true, this is not just heartbreaking, it is a violation of both our laws and the sacred oath of the medical profession. We must ensure that such cruelty does not go unchallenged or repeated.

Bright’s blood cries out for justice. And in his name, we must not be silent.

May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his killers know no rest until justice is served.
