The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has pledged his “full support” for the eagerly awaited 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) Annual Conference.
The conference is scheduled to hold at the exquisite Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State from December 1 to December 5, 2025. The theme of the conference is “A Banner Without Stain: Justice, Accountability and Development.”
Speaking while receiving a high-level NBA-SPIDEL delegation led by its Chairman, Prof. Paul Ananaba SAN, Governor Eno welcomed the delegation, saying that the state was “excited” to host SPIDEL’s signature calendar event.
Affirming the state’s readiness and pride in hosting such a distinguished gathering of legal and development professionals, Governor Eno pledged his “full support” for the annual event.
Leading over six commissioners among other top government functionaries to the meeting, Governor Eno later unveiled the conference logo to signal commencement of activities towards the event.
Speaking earlier, Prof. Ananaba commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for its hospitality and partnership, describing Uyo as “a city of excellence and promise.”
According to Ananaba, “The 2025 SPIDEL Conference is not just another gathering of lawyers; it is a movement for national rebirth. Our theme, ‘A Banner Without Stain,’ challenges every institution and individual to uphold justice and accountability as the moral compass for true development.”
The Chairperson of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), Associate Professor Uju Agomoh, described the upcoming conference as a platform for national transformation.
Her words: “We are intentional about making this year’s conference a space for reflection, reform, and renewal. It will bring together thought leaders and change agents who are passionate about advancing governance, rule of law, and public interest advocacy in Nigeria.”
Former Akwa Ibom State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and Chairman of the Fundraising, Sponsorship and Partnerships Subcommittee, Chief Assam Assam SAN expressed enthusiasm about the event being hosted by Akwa Ibom State, saying: “Akwa Ibom is ready and eager to host the legal community and all stakeholders in the pursuit of justice and accountability. This conference will not only showcase our State’s hospitality but will also reaffirm our shared resolve to build a nation rooted in integrity and good governance.”
The high-level NBA-SPIDEL delegation was led by Prof. Ananaba. Members of the delegation included CPC and Local Organising Committee (LOC) comprising Mr. Okey Leo Ohagba (SPIDEL Secretary); Agomoh; Mr. Paul Babatunde Daudu, SAN, CPC Alternate Chair; Mr. Enome Amatey, CPC Secretary; Chief Assam Assam SAN, and Mr. Ejike Ezenwa, SAN.
Others are Mr. Godswill Umoh, LOC Chairman; Mr. Assam Assam, Jnr., LOC Secretary, and Ms. Blessing Udofa Poromon, NBA Treasurer and a member of the CPC/LOC.
The 2025 NBA-SPIDEL Annual Conference promises a rich and engaging programme of plenary sessions, interactive workshops, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and cultural showcases, all designed to foster dialogue, strengthen accountability, and advance justice-driven development in Nigeria.
