STATEMENT ON THE STRIKE BY KANO STATE LAW OFFICERS BY AARE OLUMUYIWA AKINBORO SAN.

I have followed with concern the ongoing strike by Law Officers in Kano State and the issues surrounding their welfare and working conditions.

Law Officers play a critical role in the administration of justice. They serve as the legal backbone of government institutions and their work directly affects the efficiency of the justice system and public confidence in the rule of law.

While industrial actions often arise from prolonged frustrations, it is important that such situations are addressed with sincerity, urgency, and a genuine commitment to resolving the underlying concerns.

Temporary measures may calm tensions for a moment, but lasting solutions require meaningful engagement with the issues raised by the affected officers. Dialogue, transparency, and responsible leadership must guide the path forward.

I therefore urge the Kano State Government, all relevant authorities, and stakeholders to engage constructively with the Law Officers and work towards a fair and sustainable resolution that restores stability to the justice sector in Kano State.

It is important to acknowledge that the present strike appears to be the culmination of years of unresolved concerns and pent up frustrations within the system. The moment therefore calls for decisive and thoughtful leadership. As a distinguished member of the Bar and an experienced practitioner, the Honourable Attorney General of Kano State is uniquely positioned to rise to the occasion and seize this opportunity to address these long standing issues in a manner that will bring lasting resolution and leave a positive imprint on the history of justice administration in the State.

A strong justice system depends on motivated and respected legal professionals. Their welfare should never be treated as an afterthought.

This moment presents an opportunity to demonstrate leadership by resolving the matter in a way that strengthens confidence in our institutions and reaffirms the value of those who serve within them.
