NBA Abuja Law Week 2026 Set To Commence With High-Level Conversations On Nigeria’s Democracy


The stage is officially set for the Opening Ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) Law Week 2026, as distinguished legal minds, policymakers, jurists, and national leaders prepare to converge for what promises to be a defining conversation on the future of Nigeria’s democratic process.

Scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 20th May 2026 at the NBA Headquarters, Central Business District, Abuja, this year’s Law Week is themed “Safeguarding Nigeria’s Democratic Process” a timely and thought-provoking focus amid ongoing national conversations surrounding governance, electoral integrity, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.

The Opening Ceremony is expected to feature an extraordinary lineup of eminent personalities, including former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR; the Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf; and former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, CFR, SAN, who will serve as the Keynote Speaker.

Organisers say the event is designed to foster meaningful dialogue on the role of institutions, legal practitioners, and citizens in protecting democratic values and strengthening public confidence in governance and the justice system.

Over the years, the NBA Abuja Branch Law Week has evolved into one of the most intellectually engaging gatherings within the legal profession, attracting influential voices from the Bench, the Bar, government institutions, academia, civil society, and the diplomatic community.

This year’s edition is expected to continue that tradition by creating a platform for robust conversations around democracy, accountability, justice sector reforms, and national development.
